Jeff and Susan Barnes

Owners/Operators

Jeff was born and raised in the Angier area where his shop has become a permanent fixture in the local community. He got his start in the automotive industry working at local service stations and independent repair shops while still in high school. He has over 38 years of experience. He graduated from Wake Technical Institute with a degree in Automotive Repair. After 10 years of working in dealerships and independent repair shops he decided to venture out on his own.

He started his business by working at nights and on weekends in a two bay shop he built in his back yard. Soon his business began to grow and he added another bay to his shop. By this time business had grown so rapidly that Jeff quit his day job and opened his shop to the public on a full time basis. In 1988 Jeff Barnes Auto Repair was born. By the early 1990's Jeff saw the need for additional room so two more bays were added to his shop. In 1993 Jeff Barnes Auto Repair was incorporated becoming known as Jeff Barnes Auto Repair, Inc.

In 1995 Jeff married his wife, Susan Barnes, who has become a valuable partner in his business. She handles the customer service and financial portions of the business. She too was born and raised in the Angier area where she worked at a local bank for 13 years with experience in commercial lending. Together they have five children and three grandchildren. They have tried to instill in their children the importance of good work ethics by employing all of them at the shop on a part time basis while in school.

In 1996 they saw the need to expand their services to include 24 hour towing. This was a service they noticed being used by their customers through other businesses and felt that they could provide this same service to their customers at an affordable price. In 1998 they expanded into the tire market. This provided their customers with the convenience of a more full service shop.

In 2002 they saw the need for a larger facility with greater visibility than their current location, so plans for a new 10,000 sq. ft. building at a new location were underway. In July of 2003 Jeff Barnes Auto Repair, Inc. opened up at its current location of 8441 NC Hwy. 210 N. in Angier, NC.

Jamie Barbour

Front End Specialist

Jamie is a native of Harnett County. He started his automotive career in 1987. He ventured into the collision repair industry in the 1990's to pursue a career as a suspension and alignment specialists. He joined the staff of Jeff Barnes Auto in 2006 where he has been a valued employee ever since. He is one of the best front end specialists in the area and he usually stays several days behind due to the demand for his expertise and quality of work. Jamie is ICAR and ASE certified. He has been married for over 21 years and has a son who attends Campbell University. He enjoys going to the beach, riding his motorcycle, shooting handguns and shotguns.

Virginia Jackson

Virginia is a native of Wake County but moved to Harnett County when she was young. She is a graduate of Triton High School. She has a background in banking. She worked for First Citizens for 10 years as a teller until she decided to change directions in her career.

Virginia enjoys spending time with family and friends and cooking when she has time. She also enjoys traveling when away from work.

Hunter Blackman

Mechanic

Hunter was born and raised just up the road in Wake County. He began working on his own vehicles when he was 17 years old and loved it so much he decided to pursue it as a career.

Hunter is a graduate of Wake Technical Community College with a degree in Automotive Systems Technology.

When Hunter isn’t at work he enjoys hunting and going to the races on Friday nights.

Andrew Greene

Mechanic

Andrew recently moved to North Carolina and joined the Jeff Barnes Auto team. He has over 23 years of experience as an automotive technician. Andrew started working full time at a GM dealership while attending college for automotive repair.

Andrew has been married for over 15 years and has a son and a daughter.

He enjoys spending time fishing on his kayak, playing his two favorite sports (basketball and volleyball) and spending time with his family.

Mark McIntyre

Mark is originally from Michigan but has been in North Carolina for approx. 25 years. He has been in the automotive industry for 30 years and enjoys almost every as aspect of it. He likes a fast paced shop so he’s a good fit here at Jeff Barnes Auto. Doing mechanic work is very rewarding to him.

He is newly wed to his longtime girlfriend and looks forward to them sharing a life together. On his off time he enjoys hiking and spending time with his wife.
